From May 31 to June 2, 2024, the City of Nice and the Cercle Artistique et Sportif des Eaux (CASE) will host the 8th International Pétanque Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur.

This weekend, the City of Nice is hosting the 8th International Pétanque Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur. This eagerly awaited event will bring together nearly 2000 pétanque players from 8 different countries, ready to compete in teams.

The tournament will gather some of the biggest names in pétanque, such as Dylan Rocher, Henri Lacroix, Stéphane Robineau, Michel Atchadourian, and Diego Rizzi, the 2022 world champion in doubles. Among the participants, there will also be Nice’s own Mickael Bonetto, the 2022 European champion in mixed doubles and the French champion in mixed doubles in 2022 and 2023.

Event Venues

The competitions will take place at three iconic sites in Nice:

  • The Castle
  • The Promenade des Anglais: with nearly 100 games set up
  • Place Masséna: where the Honor Square will be located

Friday, May 31, 2024:

  • 9 AM to 8 PM: License submission and game card collection
  • From 5 PM: Guest welcome followed by the opening evening

Saturday, June 1, 2024:

  • 9 AM: 8th International Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur Triples seniors (432 teams, in pools, qualifying for the Masters and PPF circuit)
  • 9:30 AM: National women’s triples Challenge of the City of Nice (PPF circuit qualifier)
  • 5 PM: 8th Grand Prix of CASE (direct eliminations)

Sunday, June 2, 2024:

  • 9 AM: Youth Grand Prix of the Côte d’Azur (minors/cadets/juniors, Swiss System, qualifying for the Grande Finale of the Educnaute Challenge)
  • 9 AM: Round of 16 for the 8th International Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur Triples seniors and round of 32 for the Grand Prix of CASE
  • 10:30 AM: Quarterfinals for the National women’s triples Challenge of the City of Nice and the 8th International Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur Triples seniors and round of 16 for the Grand Prix of CASE
  • 1:30 PM: Quarterfinals for the Grand Prix of CASE
  • 3 PM: Semifinals for the 8th International Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, Challenge of the City of Nice women’s triples and Grand Prix of CASE
  • 5 PM: Presentation of the Finals
  • 5:30 PM: Finals for the National women’s triples Challenge of the City of Nice, 8th International Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, 7th Grand Prix of CASE and Youth Educnaute Grand Prix (minors/cadets/juniors)
  • 7:30 PM: Prize Ceremony
