The Departmental Committee of the French Pétanque Federation, in collaboration with the city of Nice, is organizing the 8th edition of the European Cup of Pétanque Clubs, which will take place on November 25, 26, and 27, 2005 at the Boulodrome Henri Bernard, located in the Plaine du Var.
From the 16 clubs representing 15 nations in this championship, only 4 clubs remain in the running:
– The Star-Masters of Barbizon, Seine-et-Marne, France. With 4 world champions including the 2004 winner.
– The Joli Bois from Brussels, Belgium. With 3 world champions including the 2001 title.
– La Genevoise, Geneva, Switzerland.
– Le D.U.C de Nice, Alpes Maritimes, France. With 4 world champions including the 2005 winner.
Le D.U.C, the defending European champions, will defend their title at home. A real array of world champions from France, Belgium, and Tunisia will bring this high-level competition to life.
It is seen as a rematch of the 2005 World Championships (Belgium-France final) and of the French Cup final (Star-Masters of Barbizon – D.U.C) which will remain in the records of this competition as the level was so high.
