The 2009 Nice Carnival Queen is 20 years old, beautiful, and blonde. Future flight attendant Marine La Spesa won over the jury members, among them Valérie Nicolas, Dominique Estrosi, Rudy Salles, and Jean-Louis Zanon, Director General of the Office of Tourism and Congresses. It must be said that in addition to being perfect in each of the parades and responding well to the questions, she conducted a study on the creation of a Carnival museum in the Azurean capital. The woman from Vence thus had some serious arguments! “The choice was really difficult,” comments Rudy Salles at the end of the evening. “The Queen is very beautiful, like all the other candidates,” continues the deputy mayor, delegate for Tourism and International Affairs.
The misses previewed some of the Carnival costumes before parading in swimsuits and evening wear. During this third round, they introduced themselves, revealed their favorite spot in Nice, and answered questions about the specifics of Nice. “What is the main ingredient of socca, where is the flower market, or what is the most emblematic hotel in the city?” These were the kinds of questions posed to distinguish the young women. “They’ve revised their lessons well,” jokes Rudy Salles.
