The Eagles of Nice were defeated in Brest with a score of 5-3 and drop to 9th place in the French D1 championship.
The Eagles started the match without Martin DUBAJ (knee sprain, he is expected to play again next Saturday in Amnécy) and there was hope! For more than 40 minutes the Eagles held their ground against the Albatross of Brest.
From the start of the match, the team from Nice put on the pressure, but it was the Albatross who took the lead in a power play.
It was in the 17th minute that the team from the Côte d’Azur managed to get on the scoreboard through Jozef Slaninak. In the 2nd period, the game was very balanced. But it was the Albatross who regained the advantage at the 25-minute mark (2-1).
At the end of the period, the team from Nice found the back of the net (2-2). Both teams showcased good gameplay.
It was in the 3rd period that the team from Nice faltered. Immediately in a
power play, the Brest players regained the advantage and then extended their lead (5-2), Stan Sutor’s players no longer responded.
A great disappointment, as the Eagles played well for more than 40 minutes. But the team from Nice is on the right track, and they will need to score and accumulate precious points in the next match in Amneville.
