The General Youth Council is a school of democracy and citizenship. Keen to give a voice to the departmental middle school students, the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes has established a Youth General Council. This educational initiative invites the 52 members of the Youth General Council to become project designers. Through two working committees, they conceive awareness campaigns and serve as information relays on subjects affecting middle school students.
The work of the committee 1 “health, solidarity, and education” is, for the current term (2012-2014), dedicated to the theme of privacy protection on the Internet. At the end of the term, the 26 members will present a communication and prevention campaign aimed at middle school students in the department, to mitigate the risks associated with the use of the Internet and social media.
An awareness day will take place this Monday, June 24 at the Mercury Cinema.
This day, during which various partners will participate, will be structured in two parts:
In the morning: Screening of the film “The Social Network” by David Fincher, released in 2010, which revisits the creation of the social network Facebook by a Harvard student, Mark Zuckerberg, followed by a debate with the youths, moderated, among others, by the Data Protection Liaison of the General Council.
In the afternoon: Activities at the site of the Parents’ School-Maison des Enfants consisting of three specific workshops on the theme “Adolescents Facing the Internet,” led by the association Initiadroit and the academic security team of the Nice Academy Rectorate.
Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Mercury Cinema in Nice
