Gérardpierre was born in Nice on May 6, 1950. A well-known photographer in the Nice photographic community, he passed away prematurely in 1999.
His works, of great quality, demonstrate a high level of skill in the art of toning. His work is strong, well-constructed, and technically remarkable. The City of Nice even dedicated an exhibition to him in 1990.
For this exhibition in homage to the Nice photographer Gérardpierre, his sister Michèle Soyez donated 89 photographic works and documents created by her brother Gérard Soyez, known as Gérardpierre, to the City of Nice for the collection of the Charles Nègre Photography Museum.
This beautiful photographic collection thus complements a series of 11 works by Gérardpierre already acquired in 1998 and enriches the museum’s photographic collection.
