Latest News

The “Écogestes Méditerranée” awareness campaign for sea users was launched this summer. It’s time for a review.

This campaign is coordinated at the regional level by the Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives (CPIE) Pays d’Azur and locally managed by the Sea and Mountain Discovery Center (CDMM). Throughout the summer season, Écogestes Méditerranée and Inf’eau Mer ambassadors worked to protect the marine environment. By directly reaching out to boaters, they reminded them of best practices at sea. The aim was to raise awareness among locals and tourists about preserving the coastline and marine habitats.

Some Numbers from the “Écogestes Méditerranée” 2023 Review

The 94 ambassadors interacted with 2,135 vessels, compared to 1,764 in the 2022 campaign. During a twenty-minute conversation, the ambassadors had the chance to truly engage with the boaters. They particularly discussed the impacts of certain boating practices on the marine environment. Informed this way, those same vessels flew the ecogestes pennant as a sign of their commitment. The “Écogestes Méditerranée” campaign mobilized 4,652 people and involved 712 hours of engaging communication.

Inf’eau mer is a campaign by the Sea Parliament of the SUD Region – Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. This campaign aimed to raise awareness among beachgoers. The ambassadors distributed 4,747 copies of the questionnaire to beach users. The review accounts for 10,000 people who were sensitized. 55% of them stated they were willing to sort their waste while on vacation.
