In 2024, the Alpes-Maritimes confirmed their appeal for cinematographic and audiovisual productions. The Alpes-Maritimes Côte d’Azur Film Commission recorded 491 filmings, of all categories, totaling 1,480 filming days. These activities generated 65 million euros in direct economic impacts, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous year.
Among the hosted filmings, five feature films and seven TV and platform fictions stood out during the year. Notably, Netflix and Amazon invested in the department with productions like “Qui sème le vent”, “Carpe Diem”, and “Heads of State”. These projects resulted in 23 million euros in local spending.
The filmings also included 140 commercials and 92 flow programs, with prestigious brands such as Lancôme, Dior, and Louis Vuitton choosing the Côte d’Azur as a backdrop. The hosting of 42 documentaries, 31 short films, and 19 music videos also contributed to the diversity of projects.
“Last year, we witnessed a very dynamic environment with a great variety of projects hosted,” emphasized Camille Féret, director of the Alpes-Maritimes Côte d’Azur Film Commission. “The establishment of several series exceeding 80 filming days reassures us of our capacity for hosting and service.”
Significant Employment and Economic Impact
The filmings generated 7,493 jobs for local technicians, actors, and extras. Expenditures covered professional fees, set and technical equipment rentals, as well as accommodation with 40,368 overnight stays recorded.
Indirect economic impacts, particularly in tourism and media, are estimated at 151 million euros. The Alpes-Maritimes Côte d’Azur Film Commission continues to support productions at every stage, facilitating connections with local technicians and service providers.
With a structured professional network and suitable infrastructure, the department confirms its key role in the French audiovisual landscape. The commitment of local institutions and member cities ensures this dynamic and attracts new productions each year.
