MAMAC on the Move: Niki de Saint Phalle in the Spotlight

12

The MAMAC is offering a traveling exhibition on Niki de Saint Phalle in several middle schools, including Alphonse Daudet. This fun and adaptable setup allows students to discover her work and commitments.

The MAMAC, under renovation until 2025, continues its mission outside its walls. Starting in the first semester of 2025, a traveling exhibition dedicated to Niki de Saint Phalle will be hosted in several educational institutions, including Collège Alphonse Daudet. The goal is to bring art closer to students and regions far from cultural institutions.

Designed by the teams at MAMAC, the exhibition module brings together lithographs by Niki de Saint Phalle as well as various educational tools. Games, quizzes, and interactive panels allow exploration of the artist’s world. Known for her “Nanas” and rifle shooting performances, she made art history from the 1960s onwards. The exhibition addresses themes dear to her: the place of women, social engagement, and her artistic collaborations, particularly with Jean Tinguely.

Created in partnership with the Pavillon Bosio of Monaco, the setup adapts to school spaces through a modular design. Colorful structures, drawers, and panels house documents and games for an immersive approach to the artist’s work.

This project enables students to discover art differently and engage in discussions around the themes addressed by the artist. Each participating institution is invited to develop a project related to its neighborhood, thereby fostering exchanges and cultural transmission.

The exhibition “Vive l’amour” will be visible at Collège Alphonse Daudet until June 27, 2025.
