Every November, the “Mois Sans Tabac” (Month Without Tobacco) invites smokers to take on an essential challenge: quit smoking to improve their health. This awareness month is supported by concrete actions and various workshops. The objective is to support smokers in their cessation journey.
Starting tomorrow and throughout the month of November, the Mois Sans Tabac will be present all over France. It’s a national program designed to encourage and support cigarette users to quit smoking. The gradual cessation brings numerous immediate health benefits such as a slower heart rate, better blood circulation, and increased muscle oxygenation.
This year again, each city is setting up a support program. In Nice, it begins with an information session on the dangers of tobacco and the benefits of a smoke-free life. Thereafter, various weekly workshops, led by healthcare professionals, are offered. For instance, participants can learn about different cessation aids, attend workshops on managing diet, or participate in relaxation sessions like yoga to ease the stress often associated with quitting smoking.
Physical activity also plays a crucial role in the program. Indeed, it not only helps alleviate withdrawal symptoms but also strengthens physical and psychological health, contributing to a more effective and enjoyable cessation. The program will offer sessions of Fit’Dance, Fit’Circuit, and other outdoor activities. The goal is to encourage participants to maintain an active lifestyle. These sessions are accessible for a symbolic cost of two euros and are adapted to all levels.
The Month Without Tobacco to Raise Awareness
The Mois Sans Tabac is also an opportunity to inform and raise public awareness about the dangers of passive smoking. This plague affects many non-smokers each year. The dangers of toxic substances present in cigarette smoke, many of which are carcinogenic, are highlighted to encourage collective commitment against smoking.
By participating in these actions, smokers find valuable support and increase their chances of success, as being well-supported is crucial to overcoming this challenge. Thus, the Mois Sans Tabac, supported by a team of professionals, offers smokers a conducive environment to achieve their goal. In this fight against tobacco, every small step counts and contributes to a significant improvement in the participants’ quality of life.
