Call for projects for the creation of independent housing for seniors

The Alpes-Maritimes Department is launching a call for projects to create new places in independent living residences. The aim is to strengthen the housing offer for seniors and aging people with disabilities.

Nice is a city where the number of seniors is relatively high. Nearly one in five residents is over 65 years old. This project addresses a growing need for suitable housing. The objective is to allow these populations to live independently while benefiting from services and a secure environment.

Currently, the department has 26 independent living residences, representing a total of 1,709 places. Additionally, previous calls for projects are soon expected to lead to the opening of seven new residences, adding 238 places, as well as 63 places in existing facilities.

The new call for projects primarily targets the municipalities of Gorbio and Vence. However, it remains open to extensions in other localities within the department. The selected projects must meet several criteria. First, provide financially accessible places, with 30% of the places approved for social assistance. They should reserve up to 15% of the capacity for aging people with disabilities.

Applications must demonstrate their ability to provide a suitable, both autonomous and secure living environment for these groups. The Department thus encourages the development of diversified housing solutions to meet the needs of this population.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for Friday, February 28, 2025. Detailed information and participation modalities are available on the Alpes-Maritimes Department website.
