The Weembi wind tunnel in Lesquin (59) hosted the French Indoor 8-Way Formation Skydiving Championship at the beginning of April. Skydivers licensed in the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco climbed to the top step of the podium.

On April 4 and 5, 2025, 32 competitors faced off in Lesquin, in the North, as part of the French Championship of 8-Way Formation Skydiving in a wind tunnel. The event was organized under the aegis of the French Parachuting Federation. Concurrently, a 4-Way Formation Skydiving (VR4) competition, named Weembi FS’Cup, gathered over a hundred participants from across Europe.

In the main event, the “D’Arc 8” team won the gold medal. It consists of eight skydivers, including Fabrice Blouin, licensed at the Nice Parachuting Club (06), as well as Noé Mattoni and Thomas Chomel, licensed with the Monaco Parachute Team (98). The rest of the team is made up of Martial Ferré, Marie Pineau, Thomas Misztal, Mathias Barbaste, and Gaëlle Giesen.

The point differences between the teams were narrow. The final competition took place between D’Arc 8 and Nova. Only six points separated the two teams.

Mathieu Bernier, national coach for formation skydiving, attended the competition as a video technician for live judging. He also took the opportunity to observe individual performances. “Attending this competition was a major opportunity to identify emerging talents on the circuit and, more broadly, to appreciate the level of competitors in a demanding event,” he stated.

For the D’Arc 8 team, this victory is part of ongoing preparation. The group will participate in the World Indoor Formation Skydiving Championship.

The momentum gained at Weembi could be a springboard to new performances on the international stage.
