Skydiving: France and Monaco Made Their Mark at the 2025 World Championships

Last weekend in Raeford, United States, the French Formation Skydiving teams excelled at the World Championships organized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. Three events, three podium finishes. A noteworthy collective performance.

France leaves the Indoor Formation Skydiving World Championships with a haul of medals. Competing in three events, the French teams each secured a place on the podium.

In the VR4 Open, Tom Mattoni (Monaco), Mathieu Quizy, Alban Rumolo, and Damien Gouriou triumphed with 329 points, ahead of the United States (314 points) and Belgium (306 points). This victory marks a historic first for France in this category in the wind tunnel. By the second day, the gap with their direct competitors widened. The team did not relent thereafter.

In the women’s category, Pamela Lissajoux, Marie Pineau, Élise Poindron, and Clémentine Le Bohec fought until the end. By the 9th round, they were leading by three points against China. However, the last flight relegated them to second place. They finished with 189 points, compared to 192 for their rivals. The medal goal was achieved.

Finally, in the new VR8 indoor event, France secured another silver medal. The team led by Martial Ferré, comprising Thomas Chomel (Monaco), Noé Mattoni (Monaco), Marie Pineau, Thomas Misztal, Fabrice Blouin, Mathias Barbaste, and Gaëlle Giesen, scored a total of 275 points. They outperformed teams from Qatar and China.

Mathieu Bernier, the national coach, stated: “The VR4 Open team is aiming for a major goal and remains focused on winning everything in 2026, whether in plane jumps or in the wind tunnel. They are ready for it.”

The French Parachuting Federation applauded the commitment of all the teams and has already set a date for 2026 at the Weembi wind tunnel, where the next World Cup will be held.
