From October 9th to 16th, 2020, the Héliotrope association is organizing the 20th edition of “Un Festival C’est Trop Court!”, the European short film festival in Nice. The opening ceremony “Quartier cinéma” took place last Saturday with a program featuring short films projected in front of 150 people.

Held every year for a week in October, the festival is a major event of local culture, but also an opportunity to learn about European avant-garde cinema and future great directors through several competitive film programs.

IN (live) and ON (line)

For this 20th anniversary of the festival, and considering the health crisis related to the coronavirus, the Héliotrope association is offering a hybrid version of the festival this year. An IN version with screenings in theaters in compliance with health regulations. Then, another ON version with films being streamed online so that everyone can participate in the event.

“We feared a possible cancellation like most major events due to Covid. We have constantly modified the program but in the end, everything was approved by the city and the prefecture. Tonight, the ceremony is quite exceptional, people were happy,” analyzes the festival director, Laurent Trémeau.

The City of Nice also supports the event and, as every year, provides its municipal venues: the MAMAC, the Cinémathèque de Nice, and the BMVR will host many screenings and meetings (see photo above).

Other venues such as the TNN, the Mercury, Rialto, Beaulieu cinemas, Villa Arson, the CCI, Les Parleuses bookstore, Les Ateliers Illustrés, and La Zonmé will also host the event.
