Thursday, December 15 at 8 pm, Thierry Binisti and Valérie Zenatti present “A Bottle in the Sea” at the Rialto in Nice. Based on the novel by Valérie Zenatti, “A Bottle in the Gaza Sea,” published by Editions l’Ecole des Loisirs.
Tal is a young French girl living in Jerusalem with her family. At seventeen, she is at the age of firsts: first love, first cigarette, first piercing. And first attack, as well.
After a suicide bombing in a café in her neighborhood, she writes a letter to an imaginary Palestinian in which she expresses her questions and her refusal to accept that only hatred can prevail between the two peoples.
She slips the letter into a bottle and entrusts it to her brother to throw into the sea, near Gaza, where he is doing his military service.
A few weeks later, Tal receives a response from a mysterious “Gazaman”…
