The famous children’s book character Martine will explore the Côte d’Azur in a new album that highlights the landscapes and heritage of the region. This book, published by Casterman in partnership with Côte d’Azur France Tourisme, accompanies the heroine on a journey between sea and mountains.

Martine makes a stop on the Côte d’Azur. The iconic heroine of children’s literature is at the heart of a new album, “Martine on the Côte d’Azur,” published by Casterman in partnership with Côte d’Azur France Tourisme. This new adventure takes her along the coastal and inland roads for an immersion in the region’s riches.

The story features Martine staying with her cousin Zoé, who has been chosen for a role in the next film by director Marc de La Ruza. The filming becomes an opportunity to explore iconic sites: Cannes and its red carpet, Old Nice, the perfumeries of Grasse, the Cap d’Antibes, the picturesque streets of Saint-Paul de Vence, the Lérins Islands, and even the Mercantour National Park. Each page showcases the natural and cultural heritage of the region.

Alexandra Borchio Fontimp, president of Côte d’Azur France Tourisme, is pleased with this collaboration: “Martine is a heroine who touches all generations. We are delighted to have her travel to discover our landscapes. I hope this album will inspire travel ideas for everyone.”

Martine, a literary phenomenon

The album is the result of reconnaissance carried out last summer by Rosalind Elland Goldsmith, the book’s author. Aimed at both young and old, it invites readers to follow Martine in her escapades and to discover the area.

Since its creation in 1954 by Marcel Marlier and Gilbert Delahaye, Martine has captivated millions of readers. With 60 albums sold at 120 million copies in French and 45 million in other languages, she has established herself as a timeless figure in children’s literature.

This new volume continues the story of a character embedded in popular culture, crossing generations and continuing to make children dream. Who knows? Maybe one day Martine will ascend the steps of the Cannes Film Festival?
