The Alpes-Maritimes Department has created a reserve of 155 volunteer agents to support services in the event of a crisis. This initiative strengthens the continuity of public service and relies on citizen engagement.
Last week, Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, presented the first departmental reserve team.
The presentation was attended by Anne Sattonnet, vice-president of the Department in charge of risks, territorial planning, and heritage, Colonel Gwennola Colléter, departmental military delegate, and General Controller René Dies, director of Fire and Rescue Services.
An Adapted Response to Crises
Since 2016, the department has experienced several crises: attacks, storms, earthquakes, health crisis, migratory influx, cyberattacks. To address these, the Department has implemented a strategy of anticipation. The creation of a Crisis Management Unit in 2022 was the first step. The departmental reserve is part of this dynamic.
Composed of 155 volunteer agents, it can be mobilized in case of a prolonged crisis or temporary understaffing. These reservists will provide administrative, technical, logistical, and socio-medical support to the services in place. Their activation will occur upon alert.
A Citizen and Professional Commitment
This initiative aims to ensure the continuity of public service and strengthen the protection of residents. It also relies on a strong commitment: more than half of the reservists are already involved in humanitarian, sports, or cultural associations. This initiative also serves as a lever for professional development.
During the presentation, Charles Ange Ginésy emphasized the importance of this reserve: “What we are launching today is a human, voluntary, and committed force, ready to mobilize when needed to support emergency services and ensure the continuity of public action.”
This first departmental reserve team embodies a new way of acting in the face of crises. It is based on reactivity, solidarity, and the complementarity of skills. A local initiative aligned with a willingness to adapt to current risks.
