A return marked by ecology

Latest News

This Thursday, September 7th, Éric Ciotti visited Port Lympia College. This return was marked by a visit to discover the new developments related to the “Green Deal” policy.

This summer, works were carried out in public secondary schools in the Alpes-Maritimes department. This Green Deal policy includes greening the colleges. Several trees were planted, which helps to limit heat, allows water to penetrate the soil, and also creates shaded areas.

The Developments and Measures Implemented

Repairs were made to achieve energy savings, particularly with LED lighting and water-saving measures. A solarization plan, meaning the installation of photovoltaic rooftops. The electricity production generated by this system is estimated at 13% of the department’s property electricity consumption.

The cafeteria is also part of the project, with 50% local products and 25% organic products now present on the students’ plates.

Students Contributing

To fully integrate students into the project, certain classes participated in the creation of models. “A sixth-grade class worked in collaboration with the association Graine de fermier, on how to arrange collective spaces to improve the school climate and address the needs of climate change,” a teacher stated.

The students presented their work to the Council’s managers to then discuss their needs. Young people are increasingly attentive to ecology and are delighted with these new installations. “Thanks to the trees, the college looks nicer and provides us with shade,” said a student from the college. The students present this Thursday were able to engage with Éric Ciotti in their school’s courtyard. A project that will continue over time to ensure a better quality of life for the department’s students.
