A week of actions for children’s rights

Latest News

Until November 23, 2024, Nice is organizing Children’s Rights Week, with the central theme: the right to respect. This annual event is part of the UNICEF label “child-friendly city.”

Each year, the International Day of the Child, on November 20, marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. In Nice, this celebration takes on particular significance. Children, from 3 months to 18 years old, will be able to participate in shows, exhibitions, workshops, and other fun activities in the city’s schools, leisure centers, libraries, and museums.

The highlight of the week will take place on November 21 at the Mediterranean University Center. Primary school students, including those from a Motor Skills Education Institute, will present their creations made as part of the children’s rights contest. These productions will be shared in front of their peers and local elected officials, including City Councilor Marie-Pierre Lazard.

A visual campaign to inform and act

For this edition, the municipality is innovating with a poster dedicated to children’s rights. It highlights the main articles of the International Convention and will be displayed in many venues welcoming young people. A version in braille has been specially designed for visually impaired children.

By disseminating this information, Nice aims to educate children about their fundamental rights so they can know, defend, and have them respected.
