Accident between an excavator and a car on the highway

Latest News

The bucket of an excavator, which was being towed, fell onto the hood of a car. This happened on the A8 Highway leading to Aix-en-Provence, after the Saint-Laurent-Du-Var exit.

The driver, who was slightly injured, was taken to the hospital.

The accident occurred very early this morning, around 7:15 AM. It caused traffic jams at a time when the traffic was already heavy. They extended to the Nice Airport exit, then to the Saint-Isidore tollgate an hour later. The travel time was increased by about 55 minutes. The left lane had to be immobilized.

By 9 AM, the damaged vehicles had been cleared, making it possible to drive on three lanes again. However, the traffic was still disrupted. It took 50 minutes longer than usual to reach one’s destination.

A series of accidents this morning on the highway

Other accidents also occurred early this morning in the Alpes Maritimes and the Var, as reported by the A8 Highway’s Twitter account.
Villeneuve Loubet was particularly affected heading in the direction of Italy.
In Antibes, the traffic was initially slowed by 30 minutes, in the same direction, then the situation worsened due to an accident, doubling the waiting time.
After the resolution of the accident in Mougins, patience was still necessary as the delay lasted an hour. Heavy traffic became smooth again just before 10 AM at this exit.

The week, therefore, starts off at full speed. Many of you were surely late for work this morning if you had to take the highway.
