An ex-voto of hope at Saint-Pierre d’Arène

Latest News

In Nice, on July 14, 2016, many people found refuge in the church of Saint Pierre d’Arène. One year later, Father Gil Florini wishes to offer a message of hope with a door he is transforming into an ex-voto in tribute to the 86 victims and all those who, on those days, were a sign of fraternity.

He invited nine artists from Nice to participate in the creation of this ex-voto door.

The inauguration and opening of this door will take place on July 14, 2017, at 11:00 PM, accompanied by the Soufi Alawiyya ensemble, the La Sestina choir, Jewish singers, and followed by an interfaith celebration.

This inauguration will be preceded by a concert at 10:30 PM.

For this occasion, the oak door, completely covered in copper leaf, will be adorned with the sculptural and pictorial works of these nine artists from Nice:

On the outer side will be the sculptural works by:
Patrick Moya, Michel Anthony, Jean-Marie Fondacaro, and Patrick Schumacher

On the inner side will be the pictorial works created by:
Svetà Marlier, Louis Dollé, Jean-François Gaulthier, Jean-Paul Fouques, and Yves-Marie Lequin.

This door will also be the beginning of a larger project, as the construction of Saint Pierre d’Arène stopped in 1936, leaving it unfinished without its bell tower and statues on the pinnacles.
