An intergenerational hub will be established in the Méridia ZAC with housing, a school, and a daycare to encourage exchanges between generations. This project, supported by several public bodies, aims to enhance social diversity and combat isolation.

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the city of Nice, the EPA Nice Écovallée, and Côte d’Azur Habitat will collaborate to develop an intergenerational hub in the Méridia ZAC. This project is part of the “Territories Committed to Housing” program. This program, launched in February 2024, will receive financial support from the State. It aims to meet housing needs and encourage exchanges between different generations.

Christian Estrosi highlights the importance of this project: “We are going to create, in collaboration with EPA Nice EcoVallée and in partnership with Côte d’Azur Habitat, an innovative intergenerational hub at the heart of Nice Méridia. This will include a primary school and a daycare from the City of Nice, as well as more than 170 social rental housing units. They will promote links and exchanges between generations.”

Côte d’Azur Habitat will be in charge of leading the construction of 174 housing units intended for young professionals, families, and seniors. A residence for independent living will also be provided for persons with reduced mobility. Additionally, a school group of 12 classes and a daycare with 60 cribs will be installed on the site.

Anthony Borré, first deputy mayor and president of Côte d’Azur Habitat, emphasizes the social aspect of the project: “Côte d’Azur Habitat is implementing a comprehensive real estate operation promoting exchanges between generations through activities and services, strengthening solidarity and fighting isolation.”

The general director of EPA Nice Écovallée, Sarah Bellier, highlights the impact of this initiative on the district’s development: “The intergenerational hub embodies a strong collective commitment from public and local actors to create a place where generations meet, exchange, and live together.”

The project is currently underway with the designation of Côte d’Azur Habitat. The institution will be the sole project manager steering this initiative. The convention adopted on March 28 in the municipal council was an opportunity to set the administrative, technical, and financial terms of this operation. The start of construction, for which the date is not yet known, will mark an important step in the development of the Méridia ZAC. It will continue to host new infrastructure in support of a dynamic and inclusive living environment.
