Ambre International association is organizing its ARTour starting tomorrow at the Sophia Antipolis tech hub.

This year, the event welcomes Algeria and its artists, skillfully blending art with business.

Ambre International is a regional cultural association dedicated to promoting high-quality contemporary art in all forms, from classic to modern. It consists of international artists with prestigious careers, whose works are featured in numerous collections and museums. Acclaimed and indexed, their work involves profound individual research and contributes to the cultural influence of this Mediterranean land globally.

Firmly international in outlook, the association primarily aims to be a vehicle for a modern approach to art by promoting its integration within the world of innovative businesses. This explains the association’s strategic geographic positioning at the heart of Europe’s leading technology hub for Information and Communication Science and Technology (ICT).

Creator of the event “sophiARTour”, the association prioritizes the Mediterranean.
Fully committed to opening up to the outside world, Ambre International aims to create synergies between the European and Mediterranean spaces.

The goal is ambitious:

artourequipe.jpg To reinforce the sense of belonging to a cultural Mediterranean entity composed of ancient civilizations and contribute to its global influence.

Thus, the “sophiARTour” evolves into innovative partnerships between artists and public and/or private institutional actors from the Euro-Mediterranean countries.
Algeria will be the first country to participate in the new formula “sophiARTour”, followed by Italy and then each year a country from one shore to the other, alternately and in harmony.

An inauguration evening will take place tonight from 6 PM at the Antipolis Innovation Campus Business Center. Download the invitation.

But let’s meet one of the driving forces behind this event and the Director of Ambre International, Emilie Guérin, also known under the pseudonym of Metcuc.

So Emilie…

artouremilie.jpg What is ARTour 2005?

The strategic geographic positioning of the Sophia Antipolis tech hub at the heart of the Euro-Mediterranean arch is symbolic of a territory constantly innovating in creativity.

The alliance between Information and Communication Technology sciences (ICT) and culture creates a land of excellence.

From here sprung the Techno-Cultural concept named: “ARTour”.

This year, our guests of honor will be Algerian artists.

In this logic:

We will develop artistic twinnings between companies from these two cultures.

We will unveil new artists from the Algiers School of Fine Arts.

We will deliberately play the card of artistic innovation as a vector of communication between cultures.

We will promote company patronage as a modern tool of mobilization applied to human resources management.

We will contribute to cultural animation and local economic development thanks to the Mediterranean influence of ARTour.

How does your concept of art in businesses work?

The idea is to favor corporate patronage, hence the creation of a vice-presidency (Mr. Benoit HARTNAGEL) delegated to patronage within the association.

For ARTour:

The “ARTour 2005” will take place from November 18 to December 21 in each of the companies participating in this event. These companies from Sophia Antipolis will present part of the collection of works from this exhibition in their premises (French and Algerian artists) for a month.

After Sophia Antipolis, could ARTour export itself to Nice?

In Sophia Antipolis, today within a territorial logic and within the framework of S.A.M. (Sophia Alpes Maritimes) established by Christian ESTROSI (Minister of Territorial Planning), it is obvious that ARTour symbolizes a dynamic of departmental cultural animation, of which Nice, the Metropolis of the French Riviera, is naturally the first partner.

A partnership was concluded with Algerian artists, tell us about this encounter?

We met the mayor of Algiers who was enthusiastic about this project, which would encourage a first cultural twinning between our two territories. He also invited us to introduce the artists of Ambre International to the Algiers cultural milieu.

We then met Mrs. Lagoune, director of the Algiers School of Fine Arts, who selected the 5 exhibiting artists and will be present during the ARTour 2005 to speak about the quality of her advanced training. The Algerian artists we met afterwards represent a new generation of Algerian innovators in their work, mastering both classic and novel artistic techniques.

What are your hopes for this 2005 edition?

To definitively perpetuate ARTour over time and promote the concept of cross-fertilization of artistic influences around the Mediterranean shores.

Where does your project of Polycultural City of the Arts on the rue de Paillon in Nice stand?

In coherence with our Mediterranean development, but also in terms of urban planning and cultural animation, this has transformed into H.E.M.A.C, also known as the Euro-Mediterranean Hotel of Arts and Culture.

We are still in a phase of feasibility study…

And finally, tell us about the projects of your association?

Under the impulse of our new president Malek Louhibi, the association will prioritize cultural twinnings that convey a positive image of the Mediterranean space. Innovation through patronage will remain at the heart of our development strategy.
