These three boys, who blossomed in the troupe of Les Caramels fous and decided to venture out on their own, deliberately twist some classic songs to (finally!) give them a pink hue. Humor, tenderness, and baby seals!
From salsa to guinguette songs, and from international hits to operetta, they infuse everything with pink across all tempos of the past, present, and future, under the watchful eye of a ringmaster who handles words so adeptly that he often forgets the subject.
The “twisted” lyrics of the songs are written by Christian Dupouy, performed by Luc Carpentier and Christian Dupouy, who also direct the show. Jean-Marc Daniel presents and animates the spectacle.
Reviews:
If you think French chanson is heterosexual, Les Versatiles have the solution. Here is the gay Debordian diversion of classics from the repertoire. (NOUVEL OBSERVATEUR)
Their heteroclite song tour, punctuated by a sympathetic filler, is a success. From salsa to guinguette, from international hits to operetta, they blend pink into all tempos in hilarious parodies. Olivier Parot (ZURBAN)
Forget all those syrupy, hetero-normative talent shows where young talentless wolves butcher the standards of French chanson—adopt the heteroclite attitude! 3 members of Les Caramels Fous joyfully dip merry tunes into marshmallow. Salsa tunes, operetta, guinguette, and international hits all emerge tinted with pink. Luc Carpentier and Christian Dupouy sing, Jean-Marc Daniel talks. In the vein of “saint” Michel Heim, eminent author of the Caramels, a tart and jubilant candy created in the spring at Tango, reprised in a new version enriched with 6 unreleased songs and some significant surprises… Bruno Delangre (MARCEL MAGAZINE)
