Auxerre – OGC Nice: the beginning of a new adventure for the Gym

This Sunday, August 18, the Aiglons travel to Auxerre for their first match of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season. With many absences, the Gym starts its championship away against the reigning Ligue 2 champion.

The serious business can finally begin for OGC Nice! This weekend, the Aiglons are finally commencing a new Ligue 1 season. The Gym will face the newly promoted Auxerre for this first match of the 2024/25 championship. As a reminder, Franck Haise’s men come off a decent pre-season, with a record of one win, three draws, and only one narrow defeat.

On the other side, AJ Auxerre has a record of two wins, two draws, and one defeat in their five preparation matches. After a season in Ligue 2, Christophe Pélissier’s players are returning to the elite of French football. Caution is advised against the promoted team in this initial match.

String of absences on the Nice side

Franck Haise will have to contend with numerous absences for this first match. Jérémie Boga, Tom Louchet (thigh), Morgan Sanson (ankle), Terem Moffi (knee ligaments), Sofiane Diop (foot), and Youssouf Ndayishimiye (calf) are in the infirmary. Meanwhile, Melvin Bard will serve his second suspension match, after his expulsion against PSG at the end of last season. Heading towards Lorient, Maxime Dupé is not expected to be part of the red and black squad.

On the opposition, Saad Agouzoul, Loïc N’Gatta, Gideon Mensah, and Ousoumane Camara are ruled out for this first match. Defender Madiou Keita is also suspended.
