Thirty-two FORCE 06 agents were sent to Finistère after storm Ciaran to restore communication routes. The Alpes-Maritimes Department recognized their commitment by presenting them with a badge during a ceremony.
This week, Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, presented badges to the 32 FORCE 06 agents dispatched to Finistère after storm Ciaran. This distinction, given on the recommendation of Maël De Calan, President of the Finistère Department, aims to commend their mobilization and work on the ground. The ceremony was held in the presence of General Controller René Dies, Departmental Director of SDIS 06.
An essential intervention in Finistère
On the night of November 1st to 2nd, 2023, storm Ciaran violently affected the west of France. Finistère was particularly hit, with winds reaching 200 km/h, waves over 20 meters high, and damaged infrastructures. Nearly 200,000 inhabitants were left without electricity and mobile network.
From the early hours of the crisis, the Alpes-Maritimes Department responded to the call from the Finistère Departmental Council. Thirty-two FORCE 06 agents were sent on-site to participate in the operations to restore communication routes. Their intervention helped re-establish essential access, facilitating a return to normalcy for residents and local activities.
An honored commitment
Maël De Calan personally thanked these agents for their assistance: “I remember that at the height of the crisis, when our roads were blocked and our services overwhelmed, it was the FORCE 06 agents who came to our aid. This commemorative badge is a sign of our gratitude.”
Charles Ange Ginésy also highlighted their dedication: “our 32 agents played a key role in this mission. They embody mutual aid and commitment, essential values of our region. Their work deserves all our recognition.”
FORCE 06, a departmental service specialized in natural risk prevention and management, consists of 182 agents spread over six sectors. Their intervention in Finistère illustrates their expertise and solidarity in the face of major crises.
