From April 16 to 19, 2025, Place Masséna will host the 17th edition of the “Red and Black Blood Donation”. This event is organized by the City of Nice, OGC Nice, and the French Blood Establishment. The goal: 500 donations in four days.
The 17th edition of the “Red and Black” blood drive started yesterday, Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Until Saturday, April 19, the people of Nice are invited to go to Place Masséna between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The stated objective is to gather 500 donors to meet the needs for blood products.
This operation is carried out in partnership with the city of Nice, [OGC Nice](https://www.nicepremium.fr/ogcn-football/ligue-1-logc-nice-arrache-le-nul-a-strasbourg/), the Departmental Union for Volunteer Blood Donation of the Alpes-Maritimes, and the French Blood Establishment (EFS). It is part of a local awareness effort, relying on the fame of the football club.
The kickoff was given on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of Franck Haise, the coach of OGC Nice, young players, and coaches from the Training Center. Former Aiglons will also be present throughout the event.
A setup organized to welcome 500 donors
Place Masséna is arranged to welcome volunteers in good conditions. Each day, between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., donors will be assisted by volunteers from the Departmental Union and local associations. [Civil Protection](https://www.nicepremium.fr/actualite/la-protection-civile-06-lance-un-appel-aux-dons-aidez-nous-a-vous-aider27552/) will also offer **free first aid training**.
To participate in the drive, **certain conditions must be met**: be between 18 and 70 years old, weigh at least 50 kg, be deemed eligible for donation, and present an ID for a first-time donation. For first-time donations or if the last donation was over two years ago, a hemoglobin test will be performed on-site.
A snack will be offered after the donation. The French Blood Establishment will provide sweet and savory products to help donors recover.
OGC Nice will mobilize several members of its club throughout the four days. Players from the D2 Women’s team, club employees, and members of the student association HumaNice will be present. They will inform passers-by and participate in the collection themselves.
And then? Donate all year round
In addition to the public blood drives, donations can be made all year round. In Nice, the House of Donation, located at [3 rue Galléan](https://www.google.com/maps/place//data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x12cddaca1b1082ef:0xcb298986656a29cd?sa=X&ved=1t:8290&ictx=111), welcomes volunteers by appointment. It is possible to donate blood, as well as plasma or platelets there.
