Adolphe Colrat, Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes since 2013, is leaving his position to take on the role of Inspector General of Finances at Bercy. The Council of Ministers has appointed Georges-François Leclerc, 50 years old, an alumnus of the École Nationale d’Administration (ÉNA), to replace him. He arrives from Haute-Savoie where he has been serving since July 2012.
Having served in several ministerial cabinets during the right-wing government (notably at the Ministry of the Interior with Minister Claude Guéant), he is considered to be politically aligned with the right.
This decision is expected to satisfy everyone: Prefect Colrat, whose relations with the local political leader Christian Estrosi were described as “detestable.” He had on several occasions taken an “independent” position, contrary to the wishes of the elected official who, in an unusual and somewhat inelegant move, publicly expressed satisfaction over his departure.
Let’s hope that the new prefect will be flexible enough to meet the expectations of the local political strongman who does not appreciate being contradicted.
As for the future former Prefect Adolphe Colrat, he will likely be quite pleased to find himself in a position that is… more breathable!
And when everyone is happy…
