In 2025, the Nice municipality will increase its cultural budget to reach 93.1 million euros in 2025. This was affirmed by Christian Estrosi to the actors of Nice’s culture.

Last week, at the National Theater of Nice, Christian Estrosi gathered local cultural actors to discuss the issues and perspectives of the city’s cultural policy. In front of 300 people, the mayor of Nice reaffirmed his commitment to accessible and dynamic culture.

Nice will allocate 93.1 million euros to culture in 2025, representing a 4% increase compared to the previous year. This budget represents 12.87% of the municipal budget. “In Nice, culture is not just a matter of public policy, it is a deep identity question”, stated Christian Estrosi.

Among the priorities, 39.9 million euros are allocated to the creation of cultural events, and 16.4 million euros to the renovation of municipal establishments. Support for cultural associations is maintained at 3.3 million euros.

Enhanced access to culture

Labeled 100% Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC) in 2024, the municipality wants to continue its commitment to youth. More than 31,000 students are expected to benefit from the “100% Culture in School” program, which guarantees 12 hours of art education per year.

Moreover, the city’s cultural establishments record sustained attendance. In 2024, the ten municipal museums welcomed 550,000 visitors, and the Nice Opera 76,100 spectators for 390 events. Municipal libraries account for one million loans annually.

Structural projects for the future

Nice is planning significant projects to enhance its cultural attractiveness. The future Palais des Arts will host the main hall of the National Theater of Nice and the Cinémathèque by 2030. Other facilities will undergo modernization, like the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMAC) and the Opera.

These investments reflect the City of Nice’s ambition to make culture a pillar of its development and a factor of empowerment for all.
