Christian Estrosi takes great care of the taxis. That’s good, but fair rates would be even better!

Latest News

Recalling the “essential role” they play in Nice, Christian Estrosi announced to their representatives a series of measures to support them.

The implementation of these measures will be overseen by a permanent working group, “within which taxi representatives can monitor and accompany the evolution of this action plan, assess the results, and propose any necessary improvements.”

It is very good that a bit of order is being established in a sector that plays an important role in the city’s tourism policy.

“At the same time,” it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at the exorbitant fares being charged: 30 euros between the airport and the Négresco Hotel, 50 euros between the Négresco Hotel and the Allianz Riviera, 80 euros between Thiers Station and Sophia Antipolis, etc., etc. Are these commercial rates or a small scam aimed at a “subordinate” clientele?

It is well known that the category is well organized and vocal when it comes to defending its interests. However, it would be good for the Mayor of Nice to also consider the interests of users and tourists.

It is true that the latter do not vote in municipal elections!

A bit here, a bit there, isn’t the good image of Nice at stake?

Here is a summary of the measures

An Inspection for Taxis, V.T.C., and Bike-taxis will be created to eliminate irregular behavior. Regarding bike-taxis, a call for tenders will be launched before the end of the year to regulate this market.

Similarly, areas reserved for taxis will be standardized and monitored, as well as protected from intrusions by unauthorized vehicles.
