Clean Up the South: 50 Tons of Waste Collected

8

Last Saturday, April 15th, for the first time, the South Region organized a major waste collection operation across the entire regional territory. Here’s a look back at this “zero waste” day.

Let’s Clean Up the South gathered over 200 municipalities and collection points that simultaneously participated in the initiative. A total of 10,000 volunteers mobilized along the roadsides, on the beaches, and in green spaces.

This first edition was a true success. This collective drive and determination to make a difference made it possible to collect 50 tons of waste in the South Region. As a result, Renaud Muselier announced the intention to repeat this operation every year.

“Next year, we will go even further. We will renew this operation once a year in April, to remind everyone that we must all adopt the necessary habits daily to protect our coasts, our cities and villages, our natural spaces. Let’s mobilize together; it is here, in the pilot region of the ecological transition, that change will happen!”
