Motorized two-wheelers pay a heavy toll in the department with 32 deaths out of a total of 55 for the year 2018, according to the provisional report from the departmental road safety observatory.
Within the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture, the road safety mission implements the policy against road insecurity defined by the prefect, deploying it in the field alongside associations and departmental road safety stakeholders (IDSR).
The prefecture supports and subsidizes these associations through the Departmental Road Safety Action Plan. They implement actions in various municipalities of the department, as well as in middle schools and high schools.
For 2019, the main road safety issues set by the prefect include: motorized two-wheelers, young people, and driving under the influence of psychoactive substances (alcohol and drugs).
It is in this context that Mr. Jean-Gabriel Delacroy, the prefect’s chief of staff, will visit Calmette High School to attend an action implemented by Mr. ISSAUTIER, president of the association “Issautier Road Risk Prevention”, this Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
