Latest News

In June 2025, heads of state and governments from around the world will be welcomed by France to gather around an essential topic. This is the upcoming United Nations Conference on the Oceans: UNOC 2025.

This is a major and unique event, the likes of which have never been organized before. The City of Nice has been chosen by the President of the Republic and the United Nations to host this prestigious international summit. An immense privilege that has elicited a response from Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice.

I am delighted by the choice of the President of the Republic and the United Nations to select Nice to organize this global event. It is a rightful recognition of Nice’s commitment to preserving marine environments.

The Mayor adds that, in facing the challenges of climate change and biodiversity erosion, Nice is doing everything possible to implement a concrete ecological transition. The effects are already being felt, notably in terms of air quality, modes of transportation, as well as water resource preservation and ecosystem protection. The Mayor is also honored by the choice of his city by the President of the Republic and the United Nations.

The President of the Republic’s decision to choose Nice as the host city for this international summit also serves, a few months after its entry into the UNESCO World Heritage List, as a testament to our city’s ability to prepare and host the largest international events in service of France’s influence.
