The coronavirus epidemic has just reached a new milestone in the Alpes-Maritimes. This Thursday, August 27, Prime Minister Jean Castex placed the azure department in a situation of high vulnerability.
According to the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the virus incidence rate, meaning the number of new cases diagnosed in the past week, has reached 97.4 per 100,000 inhabitants for the Alpes-Maritimes.
“This had been expected for several days,” explains David Alexandre, director of the Alpes-Maritimes delegation of the Regional Health Agency.
This week, the department is experiencing around a hundred new cases per day. There are 13 clustered cases or outbreaks originating from health facilities, businesses, or festive events.
