The second phase of easing lockdown measures arrives on Wednesday, May 19th, the highly anticipated day that will allow life to return as close to normal as possible, without forgetting that the epidemic is still present and every day we mourn the loss of dozens of people. Yes, while it will finally be possible to sit at a terrace* and return to cinemas or museums, a message of caution and vigilance is necessary to prevent a resurgence of the epidemic. Remember the lifting of lockdown in the summer of 2020: a reminder and a lesson!
If this new phase is possible today due to the clear improvement in health and hospital conditions, the authorities remind us of the three principles to limit epidemic risks: gradual progress, caution, and vigilance.
First, gradual progress
The lifting of restriction measures according to a provisional schedule planned through successive relaxations of health protocols on May 19, June 9, and June 30.
Then, caution
Several instruments (curfew, health pass, emergency brakes in certain areas) will help minimize epidemic risks associated with reopening, alongside the continued acceleration of vaccination (30 million vaccinated by mid-June).
Finally, individual and collective vigilance
The success of reopening relies on everyone’s involvement. This requires continuing to respect, for some time, barrier gestures (masks) and precautionary rules (social distancing) that must continue to be adopted.
