Wednesday, June 27, 2012, starting at 9:30 AM at BMVR Louis Nucéra – Auditorium Albert Camus – 2 place Yves Klein – Nice – (Entrance on Boulevard Risso side)
The year 2012 is dedicated to active aging, and it is on this theme that the 7th Meetings-Debates organized by the Municipal Center for Social Action of the City of Nice are naturally focused.
Today, all specialists and stakeholders in the field of gerontology, as well as most of our seniors, are aware that while aging is an inevitable trait of the human condition, modern times have opened, thanks to significant advancements in technologies applied to the human body and medical discoveries, a new life expectancy for seniors. However, this good news seems to be coupled with an inevitably increasing healthcare burden for most of our contemporaries.
Paradoxically, it seems as though the additional time gained in life is accompanied by increased spending and disability! The only solution left is to urge retirees to remain healthy until the end of their life through the practice of active aging. This is more than just an injunction; it arises from civic awareness. Get moving is now the civic virtue that our seniors must develop.
Thus, these 7th meetings-debates aim to inspire the senior generation to adopt a new way of thinking and behaving in order to age actively or, rather, to age well by staying active! Three speakers will address this theme. In a subject so vast and crucial for the future of our societies, almost everything remains to be said, even if just opening the debate is far from negligible.
