The announcement of a strike by unionized daycare staff has invigorated the organizational attitudes of the management in this sector, one of the most sensitive from a social and societal perspective.
Work meetings have been initiated, and municipal administration officials have met with a representative group of early childhood staff.
Decisions that align with the demands of the protesters have been adopted:
An acceleration of recruitment procedures following the departure of staff (retirement, transfer, availability, etc.),
Strengthening teams by hiring an additional staff member in each structure facing difficulties to support staff during the most stressful periods.
Conducting a study led by the Human Resources Department on the causes of absenteeism and the origins of absences, some of which appear to the working group as very repetitive, in order to implement measures to reduce this absenteeism and support the present staff,
Refocusing the current “pool of replacement staff” on short-term missions.
