Economy: 0.4% growth in the first quarter of 2018

Latest News

The Institute of Statistics had to revise the projected growth downwards. While it had anticipated 0.5% growth at the end of March 2018, Insee now expects only 0.4%.

However, this decrease should not affect the rest of the year: for the second quarter of 2018, Insee is maintaining its growth forecast at 0.4%.

And, most importantly, this is just a forecast that could be challenged when the official growth figures are released…

In any case, what matters is the growth at the end of the year, and in this regard, it should not disappoint. At the end of the first half of 2018, according to Insee, the expected growth acquired is 1.6%.

The acquired growth is the confirmed growth for the year if the growth is zero for the remainder of the year; therefore, by the end of June 2018, France’s growth would already be 1.6%… and there would still be two more quarters to improve it.
