While the mayor of Nice, virtually on an election campaign, has stepped on the accelerator on the “order and law” theme so dear to a part of his electorate, on the opposite end, the left-wing elected official, Emmanuelle Gaziello, has chosen the sword to respond.
Christian Estrosi presented today (note: yesterday) the “new Parks and Gardens Brigade”, in the same vein as the “anti-bivouac” decree (Tuesday), the expropriation to prevent the establishment of an official prayer room in Western Nice (Monday), and his candidacy declaration (Saturday) notably centered on the questionable amalgamation between “external threats,” delinquency, and a prayer room;
This, to permanently install 16 public surveillance agents, supervised by Municipal Police, on the future Promenade du Paillon, under the pretext of “other parks, squares, gardens where problems will have been reported”.
However, the new parks and gardens regulations, which should be adopted at tomorrow’s City Council, bring in its annexes the index of the “amenity value” of the trees in our parks and gardens (amenity which evokes the pleasant aspects of the environment or social surroundings, which are neither appropriable nor quantifiable in terms of monetary value).
Yet it is the same C. Estrosi who, in his project for Trachel Street, wanted at all costs to REMOVE the Colonel Jeanpierre Park, and the almost century-old large trees it contains, to build two buildings!! It was indeed the mobilization and popular wisdom that overcame this madness that would have destroyed the only green space in the sector…
It is the same C. Estrosi who uprooted the large trees from the Promenade du Paillon to create a “green and gray strip”!
It is the same C. Estrosi who has trees uprooted on the Castle Hill and plans to uproot even more, in a mineralization project unveiled before the summer?
In terms of crime prevention, does he forget that he voted with both hands for the removal of thousands of national police officer positions in France… to add to the funding of the people of Nice?
In terms of environmental protection, he places himself at the forefront of demagogues…. the construction of the large stadium in an area not served by public transport is the latest incident…
Indeed, C. Estrosi is the first “to cause damage to plantings, structures, or green spaces, and to generate various forms of pollution” as prohibited by the new regulations…
