On the occasion of the European Day for the Fight against Human Trafficking, Christian Estrosi and Jean-Claude Gunst, president of ALC°, signed a partnership agreement to intensify the fight against the main traffics, namely pimping and organized begging networks.
This signing was an opportunity to revisit the various actions carried out by the City of Nice over the past 4 years in this field and to consider a strengthened partnership with an association leading the national system, to further combat these networks exploiting human misery.
This phenomenon, partly linked to organized crime and the third source of income after drug and arms trafficking, is developed on a global scale and no country seems able to escape it.
The most vulnerable people are women and children, who make up the largest contingent of victims.
Nice is one of the first cities to be impacted due to its attractiveness. The number of people engaged in prostitution stabilizes around 350, while aggressive begging involving children is increasing significantly and is estimated at about 300 units.
The planned partnership actions range from public prevention to security measures against perpetrators of violence and pimps, and finally to support for victims of violence.
