GRIMALDI FORUM
10 avenue Princesse Grace
98000 MONACO
> Grande Verrière, until January 3, 2011
> The “Place des Arts” concept, initiated in 2007 by the Grimaldi Forum, pays tribute to the crafts that have long contributed to the richness of the “made in France” heritage.
> After porcelain with the Manufacture de Sèvres and crystal with Baccarat, the Grimaldi Forum is dedicating its year-end exhibition to Christofle: Haute Orfèvrerie takes over the Grande Verrière.
> This exhibition is associated with a conference on the history, heritage, and creation within this prestigious house.
Christofle is the leading specialist in high-end tableware and is today a contemporary luxury brand, with silver as its privileged domain of expression. Combining elite expertise with the most current trends, its creations encompass the realms of tableware, home, and jewelry.
The exhibition showcases about a hundred pieces, most of which come from Christofle’s heritage collections, spanning from 1850 to the present day: decorative items, table service pieces, and designer works. An exceptional set from the Collections of the Princely Palace and pieces specially created for the Société des Bains de Mer illustrate Christofle’s relationship with the Principality of Monaco.
The exhibition offers a chance to discover Christofle, its production, history, and craft through three themes:
– The Living: the plant world, the animal world, and humans
– Abstraction: modernist creation since 1950
– The Craft
