festival_latino.jpg This is a somewhat intimate event as only 500 people can gather in the village church where the concerts are organized. On July 5th, the Gypsies of “LOS MAMICOS” will perform as the opening act. On the following day, the Cuban group “Septeto Santiaguero” will conclude the program.

The Latino festival has been organized for 11 years by Francoise Miran. A true figure in the world of Latin music, her eyes sparkle when she talks about this 11th edition: “With live performances, groups like Septeto Santiaguero who come from their country bring a soul with them compared to musicians who have been settled for years. This year, the novelty of the festival lies in the addition of Gypsy music. Cuban and Gypsy music blend perfectly.”

As the founder of the cultural association “les Alizés”, Francoise Miran has left her mark on the evenings of the Côte d’Azur with Latin and French music for 30 years. She also wanted to dedicate this festival to her friend Georges Moustaki, who passed away on May 23rd. A tribute will be paid by guitarist Jean Yves Mestre and the group “LOS MAMICOS” who had met just before his death.

In parallel, salsa initiation courses will be given by Wladimir Payen to share his experience, pass on his knowledge, and communicate his passion for dancing. Francoise Miran sums up the festival atmosphere with these few words: “Falicon is a remote, non-touristic, quite calm village. In short, a village that truly reflects the Cuban atmosphere which they really like. With Septeto, we have a group that has recently won the Cuban equivalent of a music award and is on tour in several countries.”
