As every week, we review the summer transfer window of the Gym. With one week until the start of Ligue 1, the final matters for the Aiglons are accelerating.
Seven days! That’s what separates OGC Nice from the beginning of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season. Next Sunday, August 18, the Aiglons will kick off a new campaign on the pitch of AJ Auxerre. These past few days, the Gym has completed its preparation with several friendly matches.
The pre-season record for Nice is quite decent, with one victory (against Lecce) and three draws (Lausanne, Leganes, and Rizespor). But Franck Haise’s men ended their program with a defeat against Ipswich. The Aiglons were defeated (0-1) by the recent Premier League entrant on Saturday, August 10.
Jean-Clair Todibo signs with West Ham
After long and interminable weeks of negotiations, the Nice defender finally signs with West Ham. Despite interest from Juventus Turin, Jean-Clair Todibo is joining the Premier League, three and a half years after arriving on the Côte d’Azur.
The deal took the form of a loan with a purchase obligation in summer 2025. According to the latest information, this would amount to €40M. A resale percentage clause has also been included in this deal. In total, J-C Todibo wore the red and black jersey 136 times in all competitions during his time at OGC Nice.
His probable replacement found in Egypt!
Internally, OGC Nice is actively searching for a new central defender. According to Foot Mercato, the Gym is about to finalize the arrival of Mohamed Abdelmonem for this position. The Egyptian defender is currently playing in his home country with Al-Ahly. The 25-year-old would thus be discovering European football. In the same position, the Aiglons are monitoring the young defender from FC Barcelona, Mikayil Faye. An initial offer has reportedly been made for the Senegalese defender.
Movements are also expected in the goalkeeper position. Backup to Marcin Bulka, Maxime Dupé will be joining FC Lorient in the coming days. Rennes goalkeeper Gautier Gallon is expected to numerically take his place in the Aiglons squad. An agreement between all parties is reportedly close to being reached.
Finally, OGC Nice has announced the departure of Aliou Baldé. Having arrived last summer on the Côte d’Azur, the forward is joining Bochum. The Guinean international was not in Franck Haise’s plans. The winger is loaned with an option to buy in Germany.
