“Garibaldi Does Not Know!” at Théâtre Gag

Latest News

This weekend at the Théâtre Francis-Gag, discover “Garibaldi, Don’t Know Him!”, the 2017 creation of Corou de Berra.

“Garibaldi, Don’t Know Him!” is a show where a polyphonic choir, music, and puppets come together and share the stage. It is the result of a collaboration between Corou de Berra, a professional A Cappella polyphonic singing group founded in 1986, Serge Dotti, and Aurélie Péglion, who are renowned in the field of puppetry.

Between legend, romance, and historical facts, this show rewrites the true false story of Garibaldi. It stages the bustling life of Garibaldi, a picaresque hero who traversed the history of several countries. Giuseppe Garibaldi, the hero of two worlds, was born in Nice on July 4, 1807. He embodies the hope of all youth. A legendary character… An epic…

The show begins with a flight, that of Garibaldi and two companions: Gambetta and Grosso. This comedic duo will punctuate the stages of history as a counterpoint. They follow the hero. They do not understand him but have faith in him.

Other characters revolve around Garibaldi: a professor, Mother Rosa, Garibaldi’s horse, and the enemies represented by a single character who symbolizes power.
