The Côte d’Azur racecourse is preparing for the GRAND PRIX OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL, which will take place on Saturday, February 26, and will beautifully mark the end of the 2010-2011 Winter Flat Racing Meeting. This will also be the occasion to witness the first stage of the 2011 edition of the GALOP CHALLENGE, a challenge that stands out among the major flat racing circuits, bringing together participation from French and European racecourses.
Exciting activities for the public are planned around the theme of a “Ferrari day”: an exhibition of legendary cars and a parade will delight fans of the prancing horse.
– Doors open at 12 PM
– Operations begin around 12:30 PM
– First race around 1 PM
The highlight of the Flat Racing Meeting, the GRAND PRIX OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE ALPES MARITIMES supports the first stage of the 2011 GALOP CHALLENGE.
As in previous years, the GRAND PRIX OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE ALPES MARITIMES will serve as the prestigious platform for the GALOP CHALLENGE race – representing its first leg and marking the launch of the 2011 season. This event is thus particularly awaited at the closure of the Flat Racing Meeting at Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Established in 2006, the GALOP CHALLENGE is a competition held across 14 major French and international racecourses. By relying on the participation of French and European racecourses, it has gained prestige and is now considered one of the major flat racing circuits. It represents a significant international sporting and equestrian challenge, offering substantial purses and bonuses. Its goal – to improve the rating of its fourteen Listed Races – has been achieved, to the extent that some events have reached the qualification level of a Group III race.
For reference: the final stage of the 2010 edition took place on February 13 at the Côte d’Azur Racecourse.
