The Palace of the Kings of Sardinia hosted the graduation ceremony for the students of the Alpes-Maritimes Conservatory (CAM) last week.

Presided over by Charles Ange Ginésy, this event brought together 46 young talents surrounded by their families and teachers. Numerous personalities were present, including Bertrand Gasiglia, mayor of Tourrette-Levens and vice-president of the Conservatory, as well as Jean Thaon, mayor of Lantosque and president of the CAM.

During the ceremony, speeches highlighted the importance of musical education for the region. Jean Thaon praised the teachers and administrative staff who bring the Conservatory to life. He also recalled that its 46 teachers travel more than 500,000 km each year to share their knowledge in 47 municipalities.

The musical interludes allowed several students to showcase their talent, marking this important step in their training. Since January 2024, the CAM has been housed on the ground floor of the Palace of the Kings of Sardinia, benefiting from a space of 380 m² dedicated to musical learning and creativity.

A positive record and projects for 2025

The Conservatory continues to broaden its reach. In 2024, it recorded a 25% increase in student numbers, reaching 1,200 enrollments. This growth is accompanied by strengthened financial support from the Departmental Council, which covers 66% of the operating budget, amounting to 1,521,000 €.

For 2025, new initiatives are planned: an event concert at the Palais Nikaïa, the creation of a “music” label with National Education, and the development of musical awakening in nurseries and schools. Charles Ange Ginésy recalled the goal of the CAM: “to make the Alpes-Maritimes a region where culture is accessible to all and where talents can flourish.”
