After defeating Toulouse, Toulon, and Bouillargues, the Nice team crossed paths with Plan-de-Cuques. Another first-division club that seems to suit the Maralpines quite well.
Returning to the courts since the last match against Bouillargues on November 18th (victory 28-25), the Nice team resumed their competition, still in the French Cup. For this round of 16, they hosted the players of Plan-de-Cuques (6th in the championship). A match between two teams with similar levels.
On the Nice side, Clément Alcacer rotated his squad. Notably, the captain Ehsan Abdelmalek returned to competition. As for the match, Nice mainly dominated thanks to four-goal performances by Wendy Semedo Monteiro and Tena Petika. The Aiglonnes led by three to four points until twelve minutes from the end.
But just as victory seemed assured, the Provence team narrowed the gap to one goal due to a numerical advantage. Thanks to solid defense, OGCN managed to maintain this slight lead to win (24-23).
The next appointment is the quarter-final of this 2023/2024 edition of the French Cup at the end of January for the Nice team. Until then, Clément Alcacer’s players will return to the championship this Wednesday, January 10th, at home against Toulon. The match starts at 8:30 PM.
