Hannaka is a regular at the Depardieu gallery. We particularly remember the collective exhibition of January 2016 on the theme: ‘Migrants’, where she described to us in 48 black and white photos a displaced man fleeing war and oppression.

Hannaka has participated in several group exhibitions; for the first time, this exhibition is a solo exhibition for her. The theme: Between Sky and Earth is the search for a measure of the universe in its perpetual movement. A clock beating time or burning it; how can we understand the infinite on a human scale?

A redefinition of the thinking reed, this is the challenge admirably met by this woman photographer. The tree upside down would be rooted in the sky with its endless roots.

Hannaka thus goes beyond the three dimensions, creating a new perspective. The drips are alive, they move in front of us, illusion? Optical effect? No, it’s all the genius of the photographer. Other dark black photos, night views, visions of the night are an ode to silence. Can you hear it?

A series of seven photos where the silhouette of a tree can barely be seen. Landscope, a series on the moor with the dance under the caresses of the wind on the grasslands; is it wheat? Always questions and certainly no answers. The walk, passersby in the street going we know not where, but it does not matter.

With Hannaka, we enter the intimacy of nature, its secrets, and its movement. There is a wisdom and serenity in the gesture of the wind, the trees, and the ballet of the clouds. Where does the sky begin? Where does it end? Where is the horizon? These are the questions Hannaka asks you, and this is the essence of this exhibition.

Hannaka is also a poet, after all, photography is also poetry.

“Do you hear in the forest its heart beating
Sometimes my eyes drown in the sky
And the sky and the earth swirl
Like a carousel running wild,
The earth merges into the sky upside down
And we follow, frozen, this incessant movement,
Trying, in vain, to catch chimeras.”

It is with this very beautiful poem by Hannaka that we wanted to conclude our remarks on her…
