Eight out of ten caregivers in hospitals or nursing homes (Ehpad) and nine out of ten independent healthcare professionals were vaccinated at the beginning of August, according to Public Health France. Healthcare professionals are complying in large numbers with mandatory vaccination. They still have until September 15 to receive their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
They have one more month to receive their first Covid vaccine injection before the obligation deadline on September 15. However, healthcare workers have not waited for the deadline. They have flocked to vaccination centers since the presidential announcement on July 12 – this time, as patients -, as the public authorities had hoped.
As for the healthcare staff in nursing homes, the rate has increased from just over half of this population (51%) to more than eight out of ten having started their vaccination process (82%). This is a notable achievement considering that at the end of 2020, these caregivers were very skeptical: on average, only two out of ten in nursing homes intended to get vaccinated against Covid.
