Tonight, the Eagles faced the Red Devils at the Jean Bouin rink.
The first period started, and it was the Eagles who took the lead through Yevgeni Nikiforov after 3 minutes of play. The teams from Nice and Briançon battled for the puck for about ten minutes before a turnover in favor of the Red Devils. Robin Colomban managed to make the decisive pass to his teammate Dimitri Thillet, equalizing the score. The score remained unchanged during the last eight minutes of this first part of the game.
A second period in favor of the EaglesÂ
After 15 seconds of play, Briançon’s number 10 was penalized for two minutes. The Eagles took advantage of their power play, with number 79 Norbert Abramov scoring the second goal for Nice, assisted by the Czech Ondrej Kopta. Very quickly, the players Frantisek Stolc take the upper hand and score again. It was Andrei Rychagov who sent the puck into the opposing goal kept by Jan Broz. With less than 5 minutes remaining, the Red Devils seized an opportunity to try to make a comeback and managed to narrow the gap (3-2).
A final period with a bitter taste
In a mixed start to the final period, the Red Devils equalized. The French player Quentin Fauchon scored the third goal in the 9th minute. At the end of regular time, the scoreboard still showed (3-3).
So they moved to overtime. Five minutes of extra time to try to make a difference, but neither team succeeded. The Eagles and the Red Devils faced off in the penalty shootout. Nice took the lead thanks to Jonas Larinmaa. A series of missed penalties followed for both teams’ players. Starting from the fourth shooter, Bryan Sautereau also scored. Jani Kluuskeri from the Briançon team scored the only successful penalty for his group. Eventually, Norbert Abramov came to seal the victory for Nice.
The Eagles secured their fourth consecutive victory. The Eagles’ next match will take place this Tuesday in Cergy-Pontoise.
